Miyawaki produces a complete line of steam traps designed
to provide effective, low maintenance condensate removal.

Miyawaki's high pressure steam traps have become known
worldwide as one of the finest traps made. Their unique
Self Closing & Centering Valve System (SCCV) design
has proven its high reliability and effectiveness
for more than two decades

SCCV-System

(Self Closing and Centering Valve – System)

Miyawaki’s internationally patented SCCV-System has proven its high reliability and effectiveness during almost three decades. The "Free Floating" of the valve in its holder allows precise closing of the valve in the center of the seat. Many thousands of steam traps equipped with this technology have proven enormous advantages for our customers:

bullet
A substantially longer life compared with other steam traps
bullet
No partial or one-sided precipitate wear of valve and seat
bullet
Greatly reduced wear of all internal parts due to the reduction of the closing forces required to maintain a seal

Basic Principle of Operation

Centering

A yielding spring and a spring plate within the control chamber  absorbs and softens the movement of the valve into the seat. The seats are closed by the flow of condensate rather than the force exerted by the bimetal expansion. This soft closer insures longer seat life and reduces the partial side loading of the seats common to thermostatic steam traps.

Regulating

As the temperature inside the steam trap begins to increase, the bimetals will start to deflect pressing the valve holder downward reducing the condensate flow capacity.

Soft Closing

As the temperature approaches the traps set point the valve holder will be pressed even further downward allowing the yielding spring and flow velocity of the condensate to close the trap. The inlet pressure will assist in maintaining a tight seal. As the temperature of the condensate cools the bimetals will contract allowing the valves seat to open.

Intensive research and development activities over many years have enabled Miyawaki to incorporate the SCCV – System in various types of steam traps. Thus it became possible to adopt the SCCV – System not only to Bimetal steam traps, but also to Inverted bucket and Float type steam traps.
